Twelve arrested for drunk driving at Durban roadblock

The purpose of the operation was to prevent crime and accidents which are caused by motorists on the road.

TWELVE people were arrested for driving under the influence in an operation in Durban on 29 May.

Capt SM Maphumulo from Corporate Communications, Ethekwini Central Cluster, SAPS, said the multidisciplinary road block operation was held in the Durban CBD.

“The operation involved SAPS and Metro Police. Officers searched motor vehicles and checked if drivers were within the acceptable limit. Twelve people were arrested for being over the legal limit,” he said.

Maphumulo said the purpose of the operation was to prevent crime and accidents which are caused by motorists on the road.
