Baroque celebrates Italy

The concert will be in celebration of the National Italian Republic Day.

BAROQUE 2000 will perform its third concert of the season at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery on Sunday, 2 June at 11.30pm.

Works by Giovanni Benedetto Platti and Alessandro Stradella will be performed.

The harpsichord magician Erik Dippenaar will be back from Cape Town and will perform the Sonata in C minor by Domenico Scarlatti, and Margrit Deppe will be the soloist in the Concerto for oboe in D minor by Tomaso Albinoni.

The concert will end with the sparkling Concerto in F major RV 569 “per molti instrumenti” (for many instruments) by Antonio Vivaldi featuring a violin solo, two oboes and two French horns.
