Umbilo college recognises top achievers

Students were acknowledged for their hard work by receiving merit certificates and their spot on Umbilo Private Technical College's new Wall of Fame.

TOP achievers at Umbilo Private Technical College were recognised at an awards ceremony on Monday, 4 March.

The students, who had all achieved distinctions, were acknowledged for their hard work by receiving merit certificates and their spot on the college’s new Wall of Fame.

Speaking at the event, former student Akshay Bugwandeen said it was a privilege and an honour for him to be there to receive his awards for his N2 and N4.

Akshay was the top achiever, and received distinctions from N1 to N4 in electrical engineering. He is currently working at Toyota.

“It was an amazing journey and I also thank the staff for their effort, and for going the extra mile to ensure we did well and achieved our dreams,” said Akshay.

Student, Jezrel Ramlall, also excelled, achieving distinctions for his N1, N2 and N3.

Some of the top students who achieved distinctions: (back) Jezrel Ramlall, Gareth Brooks, Akshay Bugwandeen, Ibrahim Mthembu, Mohammed Burhaan Surayya, Yuven Vasi Naidoo, (front) Sbusiso Manci, Thubelihle Ngidi, Tia Crouch, Caleb Chinyama and Nelisani Mthembu.
