Security teams intercept wanted suspects

The suspects are confirmed to have been linked to several cases of business robbery in the greater Durban area as well as a shooting and attempted murder of a private security officer in the Morningside area last week.

SUSPECTS wanted in connection with multiple business robberies as well as the attempted murder of a private scurity officer were intercepted at around 5.30 on Friday morning by Marshall Security’s Special Operations team.

Team  members spotted two vehicles travelling at high speed on Inanda Road and set off following them towards Newlands. A highspeed chase ensued with the suspects opening fire on the pursuing officers who returned fire.

Housebreaking implements were found in the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle, colliding with a boundary wall in Bodley Grove, Newlands West. Five suspects got out the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby bushes. One man was apprehended security officers and members of the South African Police Services Provincial Trio Crimes Task Team.

A search of the vehicle revealed several computers confirmed to have been taken in a robbery at a business premises in the Durban CBD earlier on Friday morning. A firearm containing live ammunition and several housebreaking implements were also recovered. The suspect vehicle was fitted with false registration plates.

The suspects are confirmed to have been linked to several cases of business robbery in the greater Durban area as well as a shooting and attempted murder of a private security officer in the Morningside area last week.

The scene was secured and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
