Off-duty cop shoots suspect

A docket for attempted murder and attempted theft of motor vehicle was opened at Berea SAPS.

AN off-duty Berea SAPS officer arrested a suspect for attempted murder and attempted theft of a motor vehicle last week.

According to Capt Poobalan Naidoo from Berea SAPS, at around 10.30am on 5 December, the officer was sitting in his car outside ML Sultan Campus in Centenary Road, Greyville when he noticed criminals try to steal a car parked in front of his vehicle.

“A white Opel Spark with four occupants pulled up alongside the vehicle in front of him and two occupants jumped out and started to tamper with the vehicle. The off duty policemen got out of his vehicle and identified himself as a policeman and asked them to stop what they were doing,” he said.
