Cinderella panto a must-see

This is year-end family entertainment at its very best.

THIS year’s Kickstart annual festive season family pantomime is a magical production of everybody’s favourite fairy tale about the kitchen maid with the heart of gold, who wins the hand of a handsome prince – Cinderella – and shows at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 7 December until 6 January.

With lush sets and gorgeous baroque costumes, toe-tapping songs, jokes aplenty and masses of audience participation, this is year-end family entertainment at its very best.

The show is directed by Steven Stead, designed by Greg King with choreography by Janine Bennewith, and stars Darren King and Bryan Hiles as the Ugly Sisters, Mthokozisi Zulu as Buttons, Nathan Kruger as the Prince, Lyle Buxton as Dandini and Anne-Marie Clulow as the Fairy Godmother.

Cinderella will be played by newcomer, Roshanda Lewis, chosen from 40 hopefuls in an open audition to play the coveted title role. Completing the cast are dancers, Tshediso Kubulu, Katherine Anderson, Kirsty Ndawo, and returning is Sanele Mzinyane who performed in the 2008 Cinderella production.

Ticket prices range from R160 to R240 for adults, R140 to R190 for children under 12 and pensioners, R140 for schools’ performances throughout at 11am and R140 for previews.
