High tide for young Jethro

Jethro Brophy-Tintinger was the first youth in the recent Hobie 14 KZN Provincials held offshore at Point Yacht Club.

GLENWOOD’S Jethro Brophy-Tintinger is making waves in the sport of sailing.

Jethro was the first youth in the recent Hobie 14 KZN Provincials held offshore at Point Yacht Club, Durban and placed 4th overall after Peter Hall, Garth Loudon and Richard Gorlei, respectively.

Racing went from hard and fast at over 20 knots to light and still requiring great skill and perseverance.

The youngster has had a busy time trying balance school and sailing especially being the youngest crew member on the PYC entry in the prestigious Lipton Cup held offshore in Durban recently.

This is the first time in many years that Durban has hosted the revered event. Racing on the L26 Element they finished a punishing schedule in second place after Royal Cape Yacht Club.
