Assistance sought in rape case

An unknown man attacked an 18-year-old woman, strangled her, dragged her into the bushes and raped her at a secluded area near Esther Roberts Road.

BRIGHTON Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to the community with regards to a case of rape they are investigating.

According to Col Thembeka Mbhele from provincial SAPS, it is alleged that on 17 April between 7.30am and 9pm, an unknown man attacked an 18-year-old woman, strangling her and then dragging her into the bushes where he raped her in a secluded area near Esther Roberts Road.

“He is approximately 25-years-old, short in height and he is light in complexion. The police believe that the man they have an identikit of can be of assistance in solving the case,” she said.
