Nurse finds abandoned baby at Addington Hospital

Durban Central police appeal to the community who might assist to locate the mother of the child to contact police.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to the community for help in their investigation into a case of child abandonment.

Const Zanele Khomo said it is alleged that on 28 June at 7am a baby girl was found abandoned in an Addington Hospital toilet by a nurse, who then informed the police.

“The child is around one month old. She was covered with a pink blanket and is in good health. Durban Central police appeal to the community who might assist to locate the mother of the child to contact police,” she said.

Anyone with the information of the biological mother is urged to contact Det Sgt Buhle Masondo on 031 325 4142 or 071 875 9834 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
