Young beauty sets sights on pageant title

The pageant is a platform that promotes youth empowerment through dynamic young ambassadors.

DURBAN beauty, Amalda Nair, is a finalist in the Glow TV Miss UniWorld South Africa 2018 national pageant.

The pageant is a platform that promotes youth empowerment through dynamic young ambassadors and diverts from the norms of pageantry.

It is on this platform that the organisers of the pageant acknowledge fresh intellects with resilience, who have the potential of being key in supporting causes and addressing matters faced by the youth of today.

Amalda, (22), said she found out about the pageant through a family member who encouraged her to participate in the pageant.

“This is the first pageant I have entered and I don’t have a modeling background, but I guess there’s a first time for everything! This pageant is more about how I can empower youth and uplift the community, values I feel I possess,” she said.

“I wasn’t sure I would make it to the finals, and I was in shock the day I received the letter that I was chosen! I would be really excited if I won or was chosen as one of the top three, as I would be one step closer to achieving all my goals,” she said.

Amalda is currently a creditors clerk for Nu Metro Cinemas and is also studying Shipping and Logistics part-time.

“My hobbies include helping people, shopping, watching soccer matches, playing with my dogs and taking strolls on the beach. I am a very down to earth person who is always ready to take on anything that comes my way. I enjoy and accept responsibility and challenges and am an honest, loyal, dedicated and enthusiastic individual,” she said.

The finals of the Glow TV Miss UniWorld South Africa 2018 pageant take place on 11 August at iZulu Theatre, Sibaya.
