Tania tackles Kili for HOLAH

Tania Cleworth has chosen to climb Mt Kilimanjaro for the charity Likhon Ithemba which runs HOLAH, from her home town, Durban.

A FORMER Durban resident, Tania Cleworth, who currently lives in the UK is set on proving that nothing is impossible as she sets out to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in June to raise funds for HOLAH, House of Love and Hope in Umbilo.

Cleworth said every year she tries to give back a little to the world she lives in, whether by giving time or raising money.

“No matter how small, we can all make a difference. This year I have decided to embark on what will possibly be one of my life’s greatest challenges yet, tackling Kilimanjaro. I will be spending five nights and six gruelling days on the majestic mountain and hope to summit Kilimanjaro, that stands at 5895 metres, on 29 June. It’s something I have always wanted to do and probably have doubted my ability to do so! We face fatigue, possible altitude sickness, all kinds of weather and the mental challenge is more than the physical,” she said.

Alongside this life-changing challenge, she has chosen to do this for the charity Likhon Ithemba which runs HOLAH, from her home town, Durban.

“I will be raising funds for beautiful little babies and children that have been bought into this world less fortunate, and HOLAH has taken them under their wing to give them a chance. These little angels are everything to HOLAH, they make these children feel like they belong and have a purpose. Every human deserves to be loved and to have a chance at a beautiful life,” she said.

Kim Brown from HOLAH said they were thrilled Tania had chosen the NPO as a charity to support through this life-changing experience. “We wish Tania the best of luck!” she said.

Tania is encouraging the community to donate whatever they are able to, towards her adventure.

“The donations I receive will help Likhon Ithemba care for these babies and give them a good start in life. Likhon Ithemba believes in the potential of every child, no matter their background, where they come from, or what they have been through,” she said.

Her target is set at 1000 Pounds and she says she is half-way to reaching her target. Durban residents can support her initiative by checking out https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/TaniaCleworth.
