Housebreaking suspects arrested

Blue Security armed response officers arrested two housebreaking suspects at the weekend.

BLUE Security armed response officers arrested two housebreaking suspects, one of them already facing charges of armed robbery, in Glenwood last week.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said an armed response officer spotted a suspect fleeing a property in Esther Roberts Road at around 8am on Friday, and gave chase.

“The suspect, who had a gas gun in his possession, had earlier assaulted a resident on the property before fleeing the premises with stolen goods. Our officer arrested him and recovered the gas gun,” Mathios said.

Mathios said that upon further investigation it emerged that the suspect had previously been arrested by the Umbilo SAPS for armed robbery and that he was out on bail while facing the charges.

In a separate incident in Helen Joseph Road at around 6.50am on Saturday morning, a suspect was arrested after he jumped into a property and injured himself.

“The suspect had attempted to steal alcohol from the premises but he had jumped over the fence and injured himself and was bleeding,” Mathios said.

Umbilo SAPS is investigating further.
