‘Charlie’ needs a home
The dog has been roaming the streets of Glenwood since the first week of January.
CHARLIE, an apparent stray dog, is being temporarily fostered by Glenwood resident, Ros Perrins and is looking for a forever home.
According to Perrins, the dog had become a familiar sight on the streets of Glenwood, around Lena Ahrens, Sir Duncan, ZK Matthews and Bedford Gardens Roads, since the first week of January, however no one was able to approach him without scaring him off.
“Our resident dog walker, Wesley Chingwe, said he had spotted the dog on a few occasions as he would follow him when he was walking a few dogs, but he still wasn’t able to approach him. Last Saturday my neighbour called to say Charlie was around, and with the help of her female dog, we coaxed him into our garden. Some residents have been calling him Parker, but my daughter has now called him Charlie,” she said.
Ros has taken him to the local vet for his rabies and other inoculations and he was estimated at being around a year old. She said she didn’t know how he had managed to survive wandering the busy roads of Glenwood.
He has been enjoying his walks with Wesley, who introduced Ros to Project Dog Durban, a rescue operation.

“As there is currently no space at Project Dog, we have been fostering Charlie, but I am unable to keep him as my female Jack Russel is very put out! He must belong to someone as he sits for his dinner and sits outside when I close the kitchen door,” she said.
Ros is hoping someone will come forward as Charlie’s owners, or to adopt him.
“He is very playful and will need lots of space to play and run as well as lots of love and affection, as he is very sweet,” she said.
