Rain stops play

Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club's first team abandoned their challenge league encounter due to rain.

FIVE of Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club’s six scheduled matches were played at the weekend.

On Sunday, Quins’ top team took on East Coast from Phoenix in a 50 over stream one challenge league encounter at Harlequins. Quins elected to field first. Quins fast bowlers Yusuf Abdulla and Kevin Kettle were unable to dislodge East Coast’s opening batsmen during their combined 10 over spell, necessitating a change of delivery mode to that of medium pacers. Jordan Bryn was successful in his five over spell removing one top order batsman for 23 runs. Faiyas Safri delivered an ultra-economical spell of five overs conceding just eight runs. Mohammed Patel was sprightly with his front on action conceding 26 runs in six overs taking one wicket.
