WHILE the festive season is time for family and happiness, it also a time when criminals take advantage of people’s lax security arrangements. Continuing with the spirit of providing a safe community, Chubb Security donated a car to the Manordene Community Policing Forum. The car will be used to patrol the area during the day and at night.
Accepting the car on behalf of the Policing Forum was Laura Sonnenfeld, who expressed great excitement about the donation from the security company.
“We are very happy about the donated patrol vehicle, we believe it will serve the community and increase security visibility in our area. Thanks to Chubb and each in every one who made this possible,” she said.

According to Chubb Manager, Shaun Chetty, the car is dedicated to the area and it will be available 24 hours to the community.”We hope that the car being here will increase visibility of security and that it will reduce crime in the area.”
Meanwhile, Warrant Officer Dennis Naidoo from Mayville SAPS said there crime had escalated in the area because of the rise of students moving into the area, who are mostly vulnerable and criminals were aware of this.
“With the donation of this vehicle there will be a great improvement in the fighting of crime in the area. It is imperative that the community we serve works together in partnership with the police, to create a safe and secure environment for all residents and visitors. There is a safety and awareness campaign we are currently conducting, visiting various communities. The purpose is to provide safety tips to residents and visitors to various policing areas during the festive season, to prevent them from becoming victims of crime,” said Naidoo.
