Mugging hot spot alert for Bulwer

According to Bulwer Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum chairperson, Heather Rorick, there has been a number of armed muggings taking place along Esther Roberts Road.

BULWER Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum (BSURF) has issued an alert to the community to be aware of an increase in muggings in Esther Roberts Road.

According to chairperson, Heather Rorick, a number of armed muggings have been reported in the section from Helen Joseph to Chestnut Roads.

“Guys are on foot, either standing separately along the road or together. There can be between two or five at a time. They pick a victim then surround them and rob them. They show victims the firearms tucked in their pants under their shirts or jackets. Please be alert and aware when walking in this area,” she said.

Rorick said peak times for muggings seem to be around 5.30pm to 10pm.

“Please warn family and friends who walk this route. I have taken this matter up with senior Umbilo SAPS members as well as Metro Police senior officials,” she said.
