He is popular for his open ended and adaptive kind of contemporary and traditional jazz which draws inspiration from soul, gospel, lounge and tribal sounds.

Despite this band comprising of accomplished professional musicians and the band leader Mashiloane being a music academic who lectures music at the University of KZN and at Durban Music School, he has taken a conscious decision of bringing his music to the people under the motto “taking music to the streets”.

This kind of music performance is known as “busking” where performers perform at open spaces for the public in return for voluntary appreciation donations.

Through this project, Mashiloane hopes to inspire young people who may consider taking music up as their profession, he also intends contributing in developing new jazz music audiences, and most importantly hopes his music will bring hope, a smile and positivity to everyone who will witness his performance.
