Church volunteers entertain golden oldies

Church of God spread the love by visiting their estranged neighbours.

MEMBERS of Church of God visited Natal Settlers Memorial Homes in Umbilo last month and entertained the senior citizens at the home with dance, song and treated them to snacks.

The event, which was sponsored by Ward 33 councillor, Mmabatho Tembe was a highlight for the residents at the home.

“I feel happy today and thank the church for the visit. I was not expecting them, but I felt comforted and joyful through their singing,” said resident Dorothy Duduzile Zulu.

“I had a wonderful day today. All the people were pleasant and had big smiles on their faces. I was pleased to meet people from different nations coming together and sharing the love with us. God bless all of you,” said another resident, Peter Gerson.

Sandra Welton, the director of Natal Settlers Memorial Homes, thanked the World Mission Society members, saying she hoped they would return soon.

“I thank the members of the Church of God who prepared this joyful event for seniors at Natal Settlers Memorial Homes. The elderly really enjoyed the time spent with the volunteers,” said Tembe.
