KZN youth choir victorious

Learners from Durban High School toured Spain with the KZN Youth Choir.

THE KZN Youth Choir returned home from Spain on Sunday, 16 July after participating in the International Choir competition the Golden Voices of Barcelona.

The choir entered five categories, Academic, Sacred, Gospel, Folk and Chamber, and were placed first for four categories and second for the Chamber category. The choir consisted of 65 choristers and among those choristers on tour were three Durban High School learners, Cohen Naidoo, Senzo Langazana and Nkanyisa Gasa.

Cohen Naidoo, who is in Grade 11, has represented the KZN Youth Choir for the past two years. He has been a chorister for the last eight years and is a self-taught pianist. He started singing in the choir at DPHS from Grade 4 to Grade 7 and was selected as a chorister for the DHS Deo Fretus Choir since Grade 8.

Senzo Langazana and Nkanyisa Gasa are both is Grade 12 and have been choristers of the DHS Deo Fretus Choir since Grade 8. Langazana was also a member of the Glenwood Junior Prep Choir in Grade 2 and 3 and the Penzance Choir in Grade 6 and 7.

Durban high School is extremely proud of the three boys for not only representing their school and their province but for representing South Africa.
