Horticulturist speaks at AGM

Geoff Nichols will speak on Oribi Gorge: A natural history gem.

WELL-KNOWN plant expert, Geoff Nichols, will be the guest speaker at the Annual General Meeting of the Botanical Society of SA’s KZN Coastal Branch at the Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre on Sunday, 23 July at 3pm.

Geoff will speak on Oribi Gorge: A natural history gem. Also at the AGM, the new book, The Illustrated Dictionary of Southern African Plant Names, will be auctioned to raise funds for the Botanical Education Trust.

Geoff Nichols worked for the Durban Parks Department for many years and has National Diplomas in Agriculture, Horticulture and Parks and Recreation Management. He established Silverglen Medicinal Nursery to propagate plants used in Zulu traditional medicine. He is now much in demand as a horticultural consultant. He has written many scientific and popular books and articles and has won several awards, including the Botanical Society’s Marloth Medal in 2016.
