City seems to be rethinking speed bumps

A reader is pleased speed bumps have been installed in various Durban roads, to help deter speedsters.

EDITOR – It would seem that the eThekwini Council is having a rethink on erecting speed bumps.

I now note that Frere Road – not only outside the Open Air School – has received some monstrous speed humps and in close proximity to Willowvale and McDonald Roads. As well as Florida Road and not to mention Stockville Road near Gillitts.

Finally it has dawned on them that speed bumps are one of the most effective deterrents to the new breed of boy racer whose shopping list for accessories is topped by the mandatory rev-limiter. To those uninformed, it’s the ‘braap braap’ sound as the wannabee reaches the maximum rpm of the engine and gives him street cred!

Speed bumps are on duty 24 hours a day and are oblivious to any form of bribery or strikes.
