Sychro swimmer makes SA team

Giulia Torino has been selected for the SA team to compete in Hungary in July.

LOCAL synchro swimmer, Giulia Torino, (16), took part in the recent SA junior and senior nationals where she represented KZN in synchronised swimming. Giulia took home a gold medal for the Duet (junior), a bronze for Free Team (senior) and a bronze for Technical Team (senior). The KZN team won the junior section at the national competition.

Giulia was previously selected for the 15-Open talent squad at the National Age Groups competition, in 2016 where she excelled in the 13 to 15 age group and won medals in the 15-Open age group.

At the trials for the SA team selection on 22 May she was selected for the team that will travel to Hungary, Budapest in July to compete at the FINA Senior World Aquatic Championships for Synchronised Swimming. The selected team members from all the provinces will be attending camps in Port Elizabeth.

This is the first year she is eligible in terms of age to be selected for the SA Senior Worlds team 2017.
