Enter schools’ photo competition

School learners are encouraged to enter the Documenting our Lives photo competition.

TIME is running out for the province’s school-going photographers to enter a competition and stand a chance of winning some great prizes.

Five categories allow photographers the opportunity to showcase their talents using mobile devices (iPad, tablet, cell phone or Go-Pro), DSLR camera and video using a mobile device. The Documenting our Lives competition is open to all pupils between the ages of 13 and 19.

This year the photo and film competition categories include: ‘My space’ (capturing a cityscape or landscape); ‘The natural world’ (showcasing plants, insects, birds or wild-life); ‘Old and young’ (black and white portrait); ‘Caught in motion’ (sporting or action shot); and ‘Moments’ (a 30 second video capturing a funny or unique moment).

The annual Culture@Kearsney programme is a celebration of the vibrant and dynamic arts scene in KZN schools. It aims to enrich the development of the arts in all its forms – including one-act plays, a dance festival, art and photographic competitions, as well as a choral festival.

The judging panel is made up of leaders in the visual arts industry. The judges selected are completely independent of the schooling system with no affiliation to Kearsney or any school that submits work.

Go to www.kearsney.com for further competition details and rules. Deadline for submission of entries is Thursday 1 June. There will be an exhibition of entries from 21 to 25 June at Kearsney College.
