Glenwood hijackers arrested after high-speed chase

The police and security companies are searching the area for the third suspect, who fled on foot.

TWO men were arrested during a high-speed chase following an alleged hijacking in the Glenwood area.

According to Andreas Mathios, marketing and community liaison for Blue Security TV, law enforcement officers, SAPS Dog Unit members and Metro police chased the alleged hijackers from the Glenwood area to the Upper Highway area.

The hijackers then tried to escape through the Hans Dettman highway in Pinetown, but lost control of the vehicle which overturned and landed in the bush.

“Two were arrested and are being treated by paramedics. Police are in pursuit of the third suspect, who fled on foot into the bush,” said Mathios.

Garrith Jamieson, of Rescue Care, confirmed that paramedics are on scene treating two patients. He said the Hans Dettman Highway has been closed off following the incident.
