Gordhan to address Durban communities at Kathrada tribute

Speakers at the event will include Albertinah Luthuli, daughter of Inkosi Albert Luthuli and Pravin Gordhan, former Minister of Finance.

DURBAN communities can join the Active Citizen’s Movement, to pay respects to anti-apartheid activist Ahmed Kathrada at a tribute on Sunday, 9 April at Sastri College, at 2.30pm.

“This will also be an opportunity for citizens to express their insistence on good governance. Kathrada knew that achieving his goals of justice, equality and democracy required that government is clean and accountable. We now have to organise ourselves to protect and advance these values,” said Crispin Hemson, a member of the Active Citizens Movement.

Speakers at the event will include Albertinah Luthuli, daughter of Inkosi Albert Luthuli, Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Pravin Gordhan, until recently the Minister of Finance.

The focus will be on the dedication and integrity of leadership in the struggle for justice and against poverty, inequality and corruption. All citizens, from whatever organisational background, who value democratic, clean and accountable government will be welcome.
