Enjoy the classics at St Agnes’ Church

There will be an evening of magnificent classical music at St Agnes’ Church, Kloof.

TO celebrate the start of Music Revival’s 20th year presenting classical music concerts, Christopher Duigan will be performing his favourite masterpieces at St Agnes’ Church in Kloof on Thursday, 26 January at 7.30pm.

These uplifting and boldly positive compositions have formed a major part of the Maritzburg-based pianist’s repertoire over the past two decades.

Music Revival, established in October 1997, has grown from a series of small intimate concerts to a regular and dependable series of more than 100 concerts annually presented across KwaZulu-Natal, in Johannesburg and the Cape Winelands. These musical events range from home soirees to major festivals and symphony concerts.

The My Favourite Magnificent Classics programme includes George Frederic Handel’s Chaconne in G HWV 435 and Ludwig van Beethoven’s exhilarating ‘Waldstein’ Sonata op 53 – one of his most iconic and revered compositions.

Duigan will also play Claude Debussy’s Reflets dans l’eau (Reflections in the water) and Liszt’s Harmonies du soir from his Transcendental Etudes, a powerful and emotionally resplendent composition.

The programme ends with the ‘Heroic’ Polonaise in A-flat Op 53 by Frederic Chopin, one of the composer’s boldest compositions and one which gives voice to a nation’s cry for freedom following the Russian invasion of Poland of 1831.

Tickets are R100. Booking is preferred through the church office at 031 764 2037 or chris@fotag.co.za, or by sending an SMS or WhatsApp message to Music Revival at 083 417 4473.
