A miniature version of the Bulwer Park Community Public Sculpture’s massive Vulturine Fish Eagle, aka Palm Nut Vulture has been gifted to the North West University (Potchefstroom) – Faculty of Education Sciences, by Umcebo Design.

Creative director at Umcebo Design, Robin Opperman said the baby bird was now hanging in the Faculty of Education, “and looks spectacular.”

“It also hangs alongside the elephant that travelled to Potchefstroom and was made out of recycled materials with the students and their lecturers, in the Faculty of Education. The large Palm Nut Vulture is up in Bulwer Park, but in addition to that we also worked with community members and we made a Mini Palm Nut Vulture from non-complaint materials and gifted it to our working partners at The University of North West,” he said.

“This is not the first time that wildlife art has been built out of non-complaint goods by community members, but the project has gone national, with pieces on display in both KZN and North-West.” he added.
