The design of a Scorpion

Described as elegantly aggressive, the designers at Scorpion have incorporated the animal’s essence into the 500e. The scorpion’s claw can be seen on the front bumper and the wheels. The front bumper boasts an aerodynamic side wing, extending 30mm longer than usual, providing enhanced strength and structural integrity.

The wheels, available in both 17-inch and 18-inch diamond-cut versions, reinforce the circularity of the design element while elevating the car’s profile from a side view. The aero dam’s design features scorpion legs, not only adding a unique visual appeal but also serving a functional purpose by allowing air to pass through.

To convey a sense of sportiness and improve aerodynamic performance, the front of the car has been redesigned to appear lower and longer. It is a deliberate decision by the designers to create a more assertive and sporty lighting expression, ultimately also reducing weight.

Furthermore, the reinforced presence of the bold red line, known as the omega sign, accentuates the placement of the new Abarth script from an overhead perspective. The designers embraced the motto “Take the beast by the claws” and revolutionised the steering wheel design, infusing the aggressive nature of the scorpion. Drawing inspiration from classic rally wheels, they opted for three spokes instead of the conventional two, enhancing the car’s sporty character and seamlessly blending the past with the future.

As the car embraced an all-electric nature, a redesign of the Scorpion signature logo was necessary to communicate its transformation. Symbolising the union of performance and innovation, fun and sustainability, the logo represents the essence of the scorpion in an electrifying form.

According to Fiat, this extensive creative process resulted in the creation of an eye-catching design that embodies the power, agility, and aerodynamic prowess of a scorpion, culminating in a truly unique product.
