VIDEOS: Benoni’s HunTer makes history with two Nashville nominations

The songstress says the past two years have been tough but she is back and ready to jetset off and make her dreams a reality!

Benoni’s HunTer Leite has flown our flag high again in the music industry by becoming the first South African to be nominated for any awards hosted at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

The country songstress is ecstatic to be named an official nominee in two categories in the upcoming Josie Music Awards at the venue.

“The Grand Ole Opry House is where all the big country singers of the world rub shoulders, so you can imagine my excitement,” HunTer said.

“What is an even bigger honour for me is that I have previously won the World Music Artists of the Year 2019 category at the Josie Music Awards, but am now the first South African to be nominated for any awards function held at this famous venue.”

HunTer has been nominated for World Music Artist of the Year 2022 and Vocal Event of the Year for her collaboration with Amy McAllister on the song Cause God.

The awards take place on October 23.

“The news hit my inbox on May 7 through an email from Kathryn Washington-Shipley. She helped me radio plug my song Cause God, which is a gorgeous collaboration I did with the beautiful and talented Amy McAllister from the USA.

“I was not even aware they had submitted the song for nomination, so it was a big surprise. We watched the Josie Music Awards live broadcast on the website that night at 21:00 and I was so excited to be nominated for two categories.

“I was nominated by several Americans, which is an honour. Since winning the Josie Music Awards World Music Artist Of The Year 2019, they have since kept their eyes on me. Things were tough the past two years due to Covid-19, but I am back and ready to jet set off and make my dreams a reality!”
