A brush with local artist: meet Carlo Meyer

Benoni Art Route is open to all individuals who have a passion for creativity in all drawing and painting disciplines, as well as sculpture.

Art is an irreplaceable way of understanding and expressing the world-Dana Gioia.

This is how Carlo Meyer, a member of the Benoni Art Route (Bar), feels when he expresses himself through his art.

The 65-year-old has been drawing and painting from a young age and when he worked in African countries, he painted to pass time in the evenings.

He joined Bar two years ago and in October 2020, he came first in a competition that was organised.

His art is a mixture of landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and nature and his preferred medium is oils.

The Delmas resident enjoys the creativity of painting and the creation of something on a blank canvas as it relaxes him.

Carlo said he is not in competition with other artists, but only with himself and he always pushes his boundaries and strives to try something new all the time.

The art route is held every last Sunday of the month (October 31) at CR Swart Park, Rynfield, from 09:00 to 15:00.
