Daveyton youngster set to launch online radio to promote local talent

The excitement is mounting for Daveyton resident Petros Khoza, who has launched an online radio channel to promote local talent.

RadioVutta will go live in September; however, the online platform was founded in 2018 to unite the community through radio.

The 30-year-old said the online radio station has been long overdue for the community of Daveyton.

“The residents have been waiting for it and our local artists needed a platform where they can be celebrated and to share their music with locals,” said Petros.

“Nothing hurts like being celebrated outside while your own home ground can’t do the same for you. RadioVutta is the solution to all up-and-coming artists.”

The channel, which boasts 15 volunteers, is streaming music while they raise funds to buy the equipment needed.

“Our breakfast show will aim to entertain while educating and inspiring others to go after their dreams. The midday show will focus on social ills. The shows are under development,” he said.

“The community should listen to RadioVutta because it is the voice of fire and will remain unapologetic. At the same time, we are here to rebuild humanity. This is something people have been dreaming of and the platform has opened opportunities for local musicians, music producers and radio presenters.”

The community developer urged the public to support their fund-raiser by buying coffee mugs and key holders.

“This is to help us raise enough funds to purchase a gazebo and generator so we can enjoy a mobile studio to broadcast on the street corners to create interest,” said Petros.

He is also the founder of Daveyton TV, which was created to give residents and other neighbourhoods a platform to share stories, motivation and to appreciate the local talent and showcase interesting content.
