Kingsway pageant finalist determined to bring change

Thato is looking forward to learning about and discovering herself through this pageant.

Miss Teen Egoli finalist Thato Sekhosana believes education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.

The 17-year-old said the pandemic has affected our lives in every way possible.

“However, learners’ education took the hardest hit, and the government seemed not prepared for the pressure thereof. The learners were left with nothing to do but fill our streets with playfulness and less attention to their books.”

To curb this, the Kingsway resident started free maths and English tutoring classes for primary school learners in her community.

The classes are held three days a week to assist the learners on their educational journey.

Thato entered the pageant with the hope of reaching out to more stakeholders to help her make a change in her community.

She said she has a passion for entrepreneurship and believes the youth can experience a sense of economic freedom through initiatives.

“I donate some of the profits from my small beauty and fashion business to families affected by the pandemic,” she said.
