Local author shares life-changing experiences in new book

The book was published in June and is available on Amazon.

Northmead resident Clare Emms recently published her first book titled Changing my Beliefs Changed my Life, which is about her journey to a purposeful future.

She shares her life experiences by exploring beliefs behind traditional parenting, education and spirituality into a new awareness of these topics and a total change of perspective.

The book was published in June.

The 34-year-old said the inspiration behind the book came from coaching parents and her realisation that the childhood beliefs we receive from our parents and others will not serve us as adults.

“I felt inspired to share personal stories of how I changed my own beliefs and how it helped me see a conscious future for myself, my children and those I work with,” said Clare.

Clare explained that there is no target market for the book. However, at the moment, her biggest market seems to be mothers who want to change their beliefs to create an open-minded environment for their children.

The mother of two started writing at the age of six.

“I have written short stories and always had a dream to publish my own book. The books I’ve written before were fiction. I never thought of becoming an author and I never expected to work so hard to publish a non-fiction book,” she said.

Clare has a life-shortening chronic condition called cystic fibrosis; however, she didn’t want to sit back and wait for life to happen to her.

She is a former teacher who is now running her own parent coaching business, a co-founder of the Conscious Parenting Association South Africa and also part of the social media team for the South African Cystic Fibrosis Association, which supports and advocates for patients with her chronic illness.

The advocate for re-parenting added that her family and helping others keeps her motivated.

“My goal is to keep writing and to reach more parents and teachers to empower them with up-to-date research into working with children more consciously,” said Clare.
