Boksburg resident crowned Miss Inspire SA Women 2020

“I am happy that those who are less fortunate benefited from the initiative.

Saleha Maharaj from Parkdene in Boksburg was crowned Miss Inspire South Africa Women 2020 at the Lakeside Mall boat deck on October 31.

Although she is ecstatic about winning the title, Saleha is also excited about being able to continue getting involved in various community initiatives throughout the East Rand.

As a titleholder, her main responsibility will be to engage with the community, inspire individuals to be the best versions of themselves and to encourage young women to enter the pageant.

Saleha used the word “phenomenal” to describe the experience.

She explained she had learnt many things from all the community work she was involved in, which included a music awareness tour in light of gender-based violence, visiting schools to inspire young learners and post videos on social media to discuss many social issues, such as body shaming, self-love and colourism in cultures.

She also wanted to thank everyone who participated and contributed towards the handbag initiative she started in November 2019. All bags collected were donated to charities in Benoni.

“I am happy that those who are less fortunate benefited from the initiative.

“I have met many people from many different walks of life and the journey will continue,” she said.
