Renowned jazz musicians perform at Phola Vibez Jazz Sessions
The audience of jazz enthusiasts, both young and old, appreciated the performances given by the three musicians.
Sibikwa Arts Centre played host to a trio of exciting jazz musicians who have already made their mark in South Africa and abroad on November 24 at the Phola Vibez Jazz Sessions.
Saxophonist Sisonke Xonti, who was named the Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year for Jazz 2020, led the trio accompanied by master of the double bass, Shane Cooper and award-winning percussionist Tumi Mogorosi.
The trio played compositions by Xonti as well as South African jazz classics, such as Dedication by Winston Mankunku.

According to the Sibikwa Arts Centre marketing manager, Bongani Yende, Phola Vibez Jazz Sessions are fast becoming a must for jazz lovers, presenting South Africa’s top musicians in a vibrant and intimate venue geared for these sessions.
More information about Sibikwa’s jazz programme for 2020 will be released in the new year.
