30-minute meals: Simple macaroni and cheese

This is a very quick and easy meal to dish up tonight.

This meal is both cheap and tasty.

 

You will need:

  • One packet elbow macaroni.
  • A quarter cup butter.
  • A quarter cup all-purpose flour.
  • Half a teaspoon salt.
  • Ground black pepper to taste.
  • Two cups milk.
  • Two cups grated Cheddar cheese.

What to do:

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite. Drain.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth, about five minutes. Slowly pour milk into butter-flour mixture while continuously stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbling, about five minutes.

Add Cheddar cheese to milk mixture and stir until cheese is melted, two to four minutes.  Fold macaroni into cheese sauce until coated.
