Get ready to have some fun

The event is organised by Dax Menday, Dimitri Seretis and Etienne Erasmus.

Benonians, we hope you are you ready to be entertained because The Green. LIVE Events is ready to bring a fun-filled family festival to Benoni Northerns Sports Club on August 31.

The debut event, ‘Benoni’s BIG Day Out’, comes after the success of the Benoni Beer and Gin Fest 2019.

“The Green. LIVE wanted to host an event that would be more community oriented, something for everyone and not only our awesome craft beer and gin lovers, although there will be awesome craft beer and gin on the day,” said Menday.

“Highlights at Benoni’s BIG Day Out are definitely the acts, combined with an upmarket festival layout, delicious drinks on offer (think a little Beefeater G&T in the sun), amazing gourmet food, and if you are that way inclined you can upgrade to the G.H Mumm champagne VIP area.”

Menday provided a bio for each of the performing acts:

• King Don: the man from Swaziland is bringing Benoni a little Swazi funk.

• Jaryd Smith: our East Rand favourite – It’s music that will leave you smiling, plus watching Jaryd loop in the entire band by himself is something to see!

• Crystal Park: what would a fest in Benoni be without our alternative country locals?

• The World of Birds: they blew away Park Acoustics and their song 2020 is all over radio stations. This Cape Town band is bringing SA indie music back.

• December Streets: the new-wave indie rock band from Pretoria will have you singing along to tracks that you will know all the lyrics too!

• Mango Groove: these mangoes are really special stars. This legendary SA band is truly forever young.

• Veranda Panda: the last act is a little Durban flavour. Get jumping and end the night off breathless with this DJ/Violin duo.

“Benoni’s BIG Day Out is a family-centred event and we will have Clamber Club on the day with children’s entertainment,” he said.

“Unfortunately no 16- and 17-year-olds will be allowed access to the event due to alcohol being served, but 15-year-olds and under are welcome to attend the event for free.”

Tickets for adults are on sale at R140pp for general access (GA) and are already available from The Green Craft Bar at the Benoni Country Club, Shakti Shanti at Northmead Square and online at www.howler.co.za/BigDayOut.

VIP tickets are only available online, and GA tickets at the door on the day are R160.

Menday also gave a list of dos and don’ts for the day:

DO: Get your tickets early, bring camp chairs and picnic blankets as there is limited seating available, wear sunscreen, bring your children under 15 years old as entrance for them is free. Have an awesome time!

DON’T: Bring any food or drink. They have you covered. Weapons of any kind are not allowed, no 16- and 17-year-olds allowed and no illegal substances.

BIG Day Out opens at 10.45am, with live acts kicking off the show at 11am.

“We have live acts throughout the day, with the event closing at 8pm,” he said.
