The Benoni High School learner said being Miss Benoni has far exceeded her expectations.

“I think the biggest lesson I have learnt is to shoot for the stars, you never know how much you are capable of until you actually try.

“I do believe people often underestimate how much they can achieve until they push themselves.

“Taking on matric as well as charity events and the small things in between showed me no matter how much was thrown my way, I managed to adapt and make the most out of every situation.”

Here are some of the events Caitlyn attended as Miss Benoni:

• Attended the Ekurhuleni LifeLine Golf Day as a guest

• Judged Mr and Miss Farrarmere Primary School

• Judged Model of the Year for Rampage

• Attended a CMS event at John Barrable Hall

• Had People magazine do a feature on The Almond Tree baby home

• Organised her own golf day charity event for The Almond Tree baby home

“Next year, I am planning on studying at Unisa while working part time.

“I would like to study teaching and major in English while carrying on with modeling where I can.”

The Kempton Park resident said the experience brought out her self-confidence.

“Starting off this experience I had been shy, it has brought me out of my comfort zone and taught me life lessons along the way.

“Working and speaking to people from different backgrounds has truly humbled me and shown me to not ever judge anyone too quickly.

“Being Miss Benoni has opened so many doors and allowed me to meet so many new people. I have learnt so many lessons that can help me in the future and my eyes have been opened to so much more.”
