Local musical in aid of charity

The production was complemented by a great mix of well-known Christmas songs.

Startime Players, an all-Benoni cast, hosted a three-day musical production from December 7 to 9 at the All Souls Church in O’Reilly Merry Street.

Holiday Mayhem is a musical set in an airport terminal on Christmas Eve where passengers have been stranded due to a thunderstorm.

Hilarity and plenty of fun ensue as they help each other rediscover the true meaning of Christmas.

Startime Players raised R3 730 in donations from the audience over the weekend, which will be donated to the Royal Family Kids camp in Benoni, an organisation which offers foster children a life-changing experience through summer camps and mentoring clubs.

Donovan Arentsen, director of Holiday Mayhem, said: “I think what made this show such a success is that anyone could relate to at least one of the characters and what they were going through. It created a true connection with the play and the performers.”
