30-minute meals: Cowboy spaghetti

Cowboy spaghetti is a delicious, smoky, tangy, cheesy twist to traditional spaghetti.

You will need:

  • 500g spaghetti.
  • 500g mince.
  • One medium onion, chopped.
  • One teaspoon salt.
  • A quarter teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.
  • One teaspoon garlic powder.
  • Half a teaspoon dried oregano leaves.
  • Six slices bacon, cooked and crumbled.
  • One can crushed tomatoes.
  • 230ml tomato sauce.
  • Two tablespoons water.
  • Two tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.
  • A quarter cup barbecue sauce.
  • Sliced olives, for topping.
  • Grated cheddar cheese, for topping.
  • Spring onions, sliced for topping.

What to do:

In a large pan over medium heat, cook the mince with the onion, salt and pepper, breaking the meat into very small pieces as it cooks.

Drain grease from pan. Stir in garlic powder and oregano.

Add the cooked bacon, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire and barbecue sauce.

Bring the mixture to a simmer and simmer for 15 minutes.

Cook the spaghetti according to package directions.

Serve the sauce over hot noodles and garnish with sliced olives, shredded cheese, and spring onions.
