WATCH: Tintanic’s visit to Benoni: Creator tells of his masterpiece

Gino Hart thanked Benonions for their first-class support of his exhibit.

The arrival of the Tintanic at Manger Care Centre over the weekend caused quite a stir in Benoni.

Gino Hart, the creator of the Tintanic, which is the largest scale model of the Titanic in Africa and the fifth largest in the world, said they’d welcomed at least 400 people to the exhibit by lunchtime on Saturday.

The Tintanic was on display between 9am and 5pm on Friday (May 25) and Saturday (May 26).

Gino’s model is known as Tintanic because, as he explained, this enabled him to have copyright as an artist and the name also makes it easier for people to search and find it online among the hundreds of other related searches.

“The support here in Benoni has been amazing, and I’d like to thank the City Times for the front page coverage of the event, which, I believe, went a long way in drawing the crowds,” he said.

“We even had a few visitors, one 11 years old, join the Tin Club.”

The Manger Care Centre’s hall provided the perfect setting for the exhibit and young and old streamed in to satisfy their curiosity about this incredible model, which is on a tour of Gauteng until the end of the year.

Dressed the part in a dashing white suit, Gino was the perfect Titanic showman as he interacted with guests and fielded dozens of interesting questions.

The Tintanic’s next tour stops are Killarney Mall and then Greenstone Mall, where it will be on show at each for 30 days before moving on to other venues in Johannesburg.
