In light of Mother’s Day on May 13, it’s important that children appreciate their mom’s for all they have done.
The greatest gift one can ever receive is the gift of life and, for a mom, it is being chosen as a vessel that brings another life into this world.
Those first few moments when you hold your baby in your arms can never be compared to anything.
From that moment of pure bliss, you realise that you are responsible for raising a child to become the greatest version of himself or herself.
You hold your child’s hand through the highs and lows; you teach him or her right from wrong while rediscovering yourself in more ways than one.
There are moments of laughter, chaos, frustration and tears but the most important element that remains is love.
You live for the moments when they give you the biggest hug and tell you they love you and you’re the best.
I am a single mother of a six-year-old son and it is definitely not an easy task – especially when he’s being naughty.
Moments later he turns around and does the sweetest thing and I fall in love with him all over again.

I also asked Atlasville resident Sebolelo Sedumo her views on what makes being a mother special.
“Watching my little human grow up to be her own person and knowing there will be a person who loves me no matter what is the most precious gift,” she said.
“Everyday she comes home from school having learnt something new and she shares it with me.”
This Mother’s Day, give the gift of love and appreciation to your mom for she gave of herself: her body, her heart, sleep and loads of love.
