Are you ready for Lira’s tour?

Award-winning singer/songwriter Lira is set to begin her Be About It tour at Emperors Palace on December 9.

Having performed there when she launched her career in 2001, she decided to bring it back to where it all began.

This tour stems from her recent album, Born Free, which was released in April.

The inspiration for the album came from her contemplating the idea of what freedom is and what it means to her.

“On my first US tour, I kept being asked the question of how it felt to be free,” she said.

“This made me wonder if we truly are free, and this made me realise that our state of mind determines our freedom.”

Lira said all the songs on the album reflect her perception of freedom.

She lists Be About it, Let There Be Light, What You Love and Sekunjalo as some of her favourite songs on the album.

The former Daveyton resident said she was incredibly inspired and moved by the response of fans both locally and internationally.

“People have said the album has helped them overcome their fears,

“This has brought a transformation, a movement of some sort, because people feel motivated by it.”

Apart from music, some of her other projects include being a motivational speaker and businesswoman who speaks about her experiences within the industry.

“If you train the mind to support your dreams, nothing is impossible,” she said.

She also helps the Daveyton School of Arts with any resources they might need.

She is involved with the Student Sponsorship Programme, which provides children from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to study at Ivy League schools around the world.

Having travelled herself, the songstress is proud of what she has achieved.

“I just came back from New York and people get what I’m about.

“I feel affirmed about everything that’s happening,”

Fans can look forward to more information on tour dates in and around South Africa on her website.

Tickets are priced from R150, with the R450 tickets including a meet-and-greet with Lira.
