Benoni Aurora’s sleigh comes to town

Santa Claus is coming to town … okay not really, the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora is coming to town, but the concept is still the same, to bring Christmas cheer to everyone.

“We are going to dress up and walk around with our sleigh, elves and Miss Benoni 2017, Jennifer de Beer, to visit different areas in Benoni,” said Denis Brandjes, event organiser from Benoni Aurora.

“This is the second year we are doing this because last year was a success.”

The aim of bringing Santa to town is to collect items from the community for charities this Christmas, and allows the community to donate goods.

“We need clothes, toys and non-perishable food,” Brandjes said.

The initiative will take place in the following areas:

•Ebotse Golf and Country Estate (November 23 and 24)

•Lemongrass Market (November 26)

•Lakefield (December 2)

•Dalpark (December 8)

•La Como (December 9)

“We will be walking through the streets of the areas, not knocking on residents’ doors,” Brandjes explained.

“We will be walking at a slow pace so if residents want to donate items, they can walk to us on their road.”

Benoni Aurora will confirm the charities which will receive the goods.
