Amanda Black to Celebrate Femininity at Birchwood Jazz Evening

Talented songstress Amanda Black and an all-female line-up of star-studded entertainers will commemorate the essence of being a South African woman this Women’s month.

Multi-award winning songstress, Amanda Black, along with an all-female line-up of star-studded entertainers is set to commemorate the essence of being a South African woman this Women’s month at the Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening on Friday, August 11, at The Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg.

Leading the evening’s festivities with her Afro-Soul sounds is Eastern Cape songstress Amanda Black who first appeared on the music scene as a contestant on Idols Season 11 in 2015. Having dropped out of the competition during the top 16 selection, Black continued to reach for her dream and, the following year, she released her debut album, “Amazulu”, which went Platinum within six weeks.

Supporting Black is Afro-Jazz songstress, Naima Kay, who began her music career by auditioning for the Durban Jazz Festival.  In 2014, Kay affirmed what she had to offer SA’s music industry when she was selected Best Newcomer in the SAMA Awards.

Each month, the Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening invites a budding muso to open for their iconic line-up to highlight young, upcoming talent. Kick-starting this month’s evening is songstress Palesa Phalane who adds her own “new age” twist to the traditional Afro-Jazz genre.

Resident MC and motivational speaker, Hector Motivator, will be introducing the order of the evening with his usual vibrant flair, as he is joined by two side-splitting comedians.

Returning to the Birchwood stage is Noko Moswete who made her mark on the comic scene when she was voted by peers in the industry as one of SA’s top five new comedians. Also set to amuse the audience is the inspirational Khanyisa Bunu who made comedic history by becoming the first woman to receive the Audience Choice Award at the 2015 Comic’s Choice Awards.
