Our Shané makes top five

Benoni’s very own Shané Naidoo made it to the top five of the Miss South Africa contest held on March 26 at the Sun City Superbowl.

The 24-year-old said: “As I entered the competition for the second time, I had high expectations for myself.”

Her goal wasn’t just to make it this far, but also to win the title this year.

“Making the top five is of course an achievement on its own, and I’m proud to have gotten that far,” said Naidoo.

“I answered my final question with grace and confidence, and I have no regrets.”

The Farrarmere resident added that the journey has taught her the power of authenticity and self-belief.

“Nothing you dream is ever too big to achieve, as long as you remain grounded in who you are and believe in your ability to succeed,” she said.

“I hope that being on that stage shone a light on Benoni and I hope that I made my community proud. Thank you for your support, Benoni.”

The industrial engineering graduate is looking forward to starting off her career and pursuing her goals as a female engineer – and continuing to break the stigma and stereotypes that surround women today.
