Hairspray kicks off Startime’s year
Startime Players is starting off their year with auditions for their next production, “Hairspray”.
Hairspray is a family-friendly musical piled high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs.
The story is set in 1962 in Baltimore, where the lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire – to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show.
When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star.
The show features songs in 1960s style dance music and “downtown” rhythm and blues.
Auditions will take place on Thursday (January 26) at 7pm and Saturday (January 28) at 2pm in the Willowmoore High School hall, Benoni South.
Those interested must prepare to sing a song at the audition – preferably from a musical show.
The show will be staged over the last three weekends in May.
Auditions open to anyone 14 years and older.
