He has been welcomed to the 5FM “the Weekender5” group and will host his debut show, “The Kyle Cassim Show”, on Friday, October 14, from 7pm to 10pm.

Determination and hard work have seen him through the years and now he has accomplished one of his biggest dreams, as a DJ, joining the nationally-recognised radio show.

“It’s something I have looked forward to since I started playing at the age of 13,” the Morehill resident said.

He has worked his way up the entertainment ladder, having started as a mobile DJ and playing sets at school discos and at varsity to playing for major festivals and international posts.

“It is 14 years of lots of hard work and not giving up,” he said.

Still with much ambition and vision, Cassim has other dreams that he wants to see fulfilled in his life.

The enthusiastic man wishes to play at more international gigs and would like to be “the next DJ Fresh” in South Africa.

He also wants to own a record label and his own restaurants, as well as his own television show.

The sky is the limit.

“Nothing just happens quickly or in an instant, but persistence always pays off,” he said.

Cassim encourages young people to follow their dreams in whatever it is they want to pursue, and to stick it out.

“If you want to do something you love and are good at it, then you need to give it your all and be persistent through it all,” he said.
