Route Information

  1. No seconding is permitted. All runners must obey marshals and traffic officers at all     times.
  2. Regret no mechanically operated devices, blades, cycles or wheelchairs are permitted to participate in the race without special permission granted by the organisers.
  3. All participants with prams must start at the back of the field so as to avoid injuries to athletes running.
  4. Regrettably, athletes may not participate with pets.
  5. No iPod and any music devices allowed.

General Information

Rules:

  1. SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge is only open to female runners aged 14 years and older. (Men wishing to participate must dress in drag).
  2. SPAR Women’s 5km Run / Walk is open to females over the age of 9 years (Men wishing to participate must dress in drag).
  3. The prize winners are determined by the chip timing system and verified by the referees.
  4. Age category ID tag must be worn on front and back of athletes competing for age category prizes. No runner will be eligible for an age group prize unless he / she has worn a tag throughout the race.
  5. Proof of age to be produced on request on race day. Juniors to produce original birth certificate or ID document.
  6. Time allowed for completing the 10km Challenge or 5km Run / Walk is 120 minutes.
  7. Held under the rules of ASA and CGA.
  8. Athletes not belonging to a club must wear the issued temporary licence number on the back and the issued race number on the front of the vest (for 10km race only).
  9. Athletes may qualify for the open category plus the category which they have entered.
  10. Registered athletes must be a member of a club affiliated to ASA, and must wear their club colours and the 2016 provincial numbers on the back, and the issued race number on the front of the vest.
  11. Objections must be lodged in writing within 30 minutes (before or after prize-giving) to the referees, accompanied by R300, which is refundable if the appeal is upheld.
  12. International athletes must provide a clearance letter from their country of origin to the referee, in the event of winning a prize.
  13. Only South African athletes qualify for club prizes.
  14. Athletes must comply with domiciliary rules when competing for a club prize.
  15. Men are not eligible for ANY prizes.
  16. Participants must be medically fit and indemnify the race organisers, CGA and ASA from any and all claims which may arise from participation in the events.
  17. No refunds on entry fee.
  18. Licensed athletes who do not wear their 2016 licence numbers must purchase a temporary licence on the day or face disqualification.
  19. Athletes who participate without buying a race entry will be disqualified, will not be entitled to any benefits associated with the race and will be liable for a double entry fee charge. Habitual offenders (those who regularly participate without purchasing a race entry) will be called to a CGA disciplinary.
  20. Licenced athletes in the 10km event, not wearing club colours may face disqualification.

Proof of age of all category winners to be produced on race day if required.

I agree to abide by the rules of the SPAR WOMEN’S CHALLENGE even if I have not read them, and understand that I take part in the SPAR WOMEN’S CHALLENGE at my own risk and I Indemnity the sponsors and organisers against any claim that may result from my participation. I further understand that it is my responsibility to be medically fit for running.
All entrants under the age of 18 years must have their entry forms signed by either a parent or guardian.
REMINDER: MEN ALLOWED TO RUN IN DRAG AND MUST START AT THE BACK OF THE RACE.
MEN NOT TO FINISH WITHIN THE FIRST 100 FINISHERS IN THE 10KM AND 5KM.
