After 60 years, they reunite

After 60 years, iconic jazz instrumentalists Abdullah Ibrahim and Hugh Masekela are reuniting on stage for two nights only, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the June 16 Soweto Uprising.

The duo will each perform their individual sets on stage on June 15 and 16, in the Centre Court Arena, in the Convention Centre, at Emperors Palace.

But wait! There’s more! The two will then join forces and collaborate for a grand finale.

They will time travel into the nostalgia and perform together; however, this time, in a modern and colourful South Africa which was only ever dreamed of in their days together.

The Jazz Epistles were South Africa’s earliest, most influential jazz (bebop) band.

This was an all-black, all esteemed band of young, swaggering men.

Their music filled the dusty streets of the townships and fired the hearts of the youth, who were adamant about standing up for a South Africa that is free and fair.

Tickets are available at TicketPro.
